State Rep. Mark Huizenga of Walker today issued the following statement after protests forced a lockdown of the U.S. Capitol during Electoral College proceedings:

“This is a dark day for democracy. Violence has no place in our time-honored traditions that establish an orderly transition of power.

“What we’re seeing in Washington D.C. today is not America and does not represent American values. We must be better than this. Our nation deserves better than this.”
