Rep. Huizenga reappointed to influential Michigan House Appropriations Committee for 2021-22 session
RELEASE|January 21, 2021

Rep. Mark Huizenga of Walker today was appointed to key leadership roles within the Michigan House Appropriations Committee – an influential panel charged with helping to craft the state budget.

Huizenga will chair the subcommittee for Higher Education and Community Colleges. He also will serve on subcommittees for School Aid, Health and Human Services, and Transportation.

“Nothing affects the daily lives of Michigan residents quite like the state budget. These are decisions we must get right for the students and workers across our great state, and their families,” Huizenga said. “My priority will continue to be making the best investments we possibly can while being conservative and efficient with taxpayer dollars.”

Huizenga was appointed to the Appropriations Committee for the 2021-22 term by Speaker Jason Wentworth. Huizenga also served on the Appropriations Committee during the Legislature’s 2019-20 term.

“Over the past two years, the House developed a fantastic track record of making smart investments during challenging budget cycles,” Huizenga said. “I know that work will continue in the new legislative term.”
