State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) called for reasonable steps to address rising auto no-fault medical deductibles and the growing challenges facing Michigan residents who rely on long-term care after severe auto accidents.
“According to what we’re seeing across the state, families are facing auto no-fault deductibles that have become far too expensive for the coverage they paid for, and reduced reimbursement rates have made it difficult for many care providers to continue offering services,” said Wozniak. “As a result, crash survivors are losing access to the home care, rehabilitation, and therapy they rely on.”
Across Michigan, increasing deductibles and the 45% reimbursement cut have left many survivors with fewer options for in-home support and specialized therapy. Providers have been forced to scale back or close, limiting access to essential services for seniors, parents, and children who depend on long-term care following life-altering injuries.
Wozniak introduced House Bill 5030 to address rising no-fault medical deductibles and improve access to long-term care for crash survivors. The bill proposes reforms to ensure deductibles remain manageable and that providers can continue offering essential rehabilitation, therapy, and in-home care services.
“This plan is designed to ensure auto no-fault provides real protection when people need it most,” said Wozniak. “When deductibles exceed what families can afford and care becomes harder to access, we need to find a way to give Michigan families the coverage and support they deserve.”
